PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has denied that the opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat no longer existed.

"Who says Pakatan Rakyat no longer exists?" he remarked when quizzed on this.

Azmin, who is also Selangor menteri besar, then told reporters to refer to the statement made by PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on the matter.

"The statement is in both Malay and English. If you don't understand Malay, you can refer to the English version.

"If you understand English, you do not have to refer to the Malay version," he said at the Shah Alam mosque today.

Wan Azizah ( photo ), in her statement yesterday, had said PKR would spearhead efforts to rebuild an opposition coalition following Pakatan ceasing to function formally .

'Provide leadership to solve problems'

Meanwhile, asked whether it was "awkward" for PKR, DAP and PAS to continue working together in the state government, Azmin pointed out how there are problems in any form of relationships.

 
"Husbands and wives have problems, so do parents and children. 
 
"(What's important) is that we must provide leadership on how to solve the problem," he said.
 
Pressed further on the matter, Azmin again cited marital relationship between couples.
 
"If the wife has problems with her husband, will they be awkward? Just sit down and discuss.
 
"That is a good way; that's leadership. Leaders must be brave to sit down and discuss, as well as practice mutual respect," he said.
 
Azmin yesterday said he believes Pakatan Rakyat was still " salvageable ", this despite the DAP having declared that Pakatan no longer existed.
 
Acknowledging the differences among the three parties, Azmin believes the opposition pact could still be saved.
