1Malaysia Development Berhad has dismissed speculation that it might boycott the Public Accounts Committee hearing, if ardent critics are not removed from the committee.

Responding to comments by DAP lawmakers Lim Kit Siang and Tony Pua today, the investment arm reiterated that it will turn up for the probe.

"1MDB repeats our commitment, as announced on May 25, to attend the PAC hearings.

"It is clear that the speculation today by both individuals is to divert attention from the recent heavy criticism of Pua, a member of the PAC, for his many statements that may be seen as prejudging 1MDB although the PAC process has yet to be completed.

"1MDB has every confidence in the PAC process and trust that the honorable members will carry out their role in a fair and professional manner," it said in a statement today.

Former 1MDB CEO Shahrol Halmi is slated to testify to the PAC on Aug 4, while current group executive Arul Kanda will appear before the committee the next day.

Lim ( photo ) today speculated that both might boycott the hearing, if Pua is not removed from the PAC for alleged bias.

PAC chief Nur Jazlan Mohamad has made it clear that Pua will stay on the committee and has told detractors to back off.
