Penang PAS deputy commissioner Mohd Fadzil Kemi will be filing a suit against the state government for unfair dismissal after the Hari Raya holidays.

He claimed that the move was to protect his dignity, and PAS’ image as the decision to terminate him by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has “tarnished” his reputation, and those of his comrades.

Mohd Fadzil, who was former PAS Penang secretary, previously held the post as information officer in Lim's office.

Asked what would their demands be when filing the suit, he said the chief minister need not apologise as this was a decision by the state executive council.

“It is not about being greedy for position but as a comrade, the CM should at least discuss the matter with me before terminating me.

“He could have waited until I finished my term at the end of the year so that my image would not be tarnished,” Mohd Fadzil told Malaysiakini when contacted.

“He is angry with PAS but I became the victim. There is much that I have done to defend him in Pakatan Rakyat,” he lamented.

He questioned why Lim could not differentiate between the party PAS and its members, who are individuals in their own right.

Lost respect for chief minister

Following the termination, Mohd Fadzil said he could no longer trust Lim, and have lost respect for the chief minister.

“Human rights is one thing, but I felt ashamed after what happened since all my friends knew what happened to me,” he said.

When contacted, Lim's political secretary Wong Hon Wai declined to comment beyond saying "the positions would be filled later".

Earlier, state PAS commissioner Fauzi Mohd Yusof was reported to have said that the party has directed its lawyers to issue a legal letter to defend members' rights.

With the legal action, Fauzi said the party intends to “restore the dignity” of those who have been removed, following Lim’s announcement that Pakatan is dead.

The announcement came in the wake of PAS delegates at the party’s 61st muktamar in Selangor accepting a motion by the Ulama Council to sever ties with DAP.

It was accepted without debate, much to the chagrin of DAP leaders, who earlier cut ties with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for tabling a private members bill in Parliament.

Following this, five PAS leaders, including former deputy president Mohamad Sabu ( photo ), former state deputy commissioner and Parit Buntar MP Mujahid Yusof Rawa, legal officer Roshidi Hussein, and two local councillors Md Nasir Yahya and Dahalan Fazil quit their posts.

As they have resigned due to principles, Lim had expressed his appreciation towards their contribution.

PAS members hold up to 1,000 posts in various sectors including mosque committees and village development and security committees but have yet to be removed from their posts.

Lim had also announced that Penang is no longer a Pakatan Rakyat government, but administratively, it is  “business as usual”.

During the announcement, he confirmed that PAS sole assemblyman for Permatang Pasir Salleh Man , is still part of the Penang government.

Salleh also holds the post of Penang Islamic Affairs Council president, and would remain so until his term ends at the end of year.
