Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming has urged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to publish yet another FAQ (frequently asked questions) article on his blog, this time on allegations that RM2.6 billion went into his bank accounts.
Nga said the premier had done so in the past , in particular to respond to allegations by former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and the pressing nature of the allegations warranted another.
"He only has to answer three questions: 1) Does he own the three accounts reported by The Wall Street Journal ( WSJ )? 2) Was RM2.6 billion transferred into those accounts? 3) If yes, what happened to the money?" Nga told Malaysiakini in a phone interview.
Nga said answering these questions were essential since it involves national interest and the head of government's integrity.
"A government must be clean otherwise it will lose it's moral authority to govern the nation and as a result, it will lead the country to be a failed state," said Nga, who is also the Perak DAP head.
On July 3, WSJ reported that Malaysian investigations had concluded that nearly US$700 million made its way into three of Najib's personal bank accounts.
The financial daily cited Malaysian investigators as their source and published nine documents to back their claims.
However, it did not state where the money came from or what happened to it.
Najib has not denied receiving the money, but has repeatedly stated that he had not used 1MDB funds for personal gain.
