The police have recorded a statement from Lester Melanyi following his confession that Sarawak Report allegedly fabricated evidence to implicate Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Muhammad Sabtu Osman said Bukit Aman officers were in Kuching on July 17 and 18 to record Lester's statement.

"They also confiscated several computers. No arrest was made," he told Bernama today.

Last Wednesday, Lester Melanyi ( photo ) claimed in a video confession that he used to work for Sarawak Report and that he had helped fabricate information against 1MDB and its dealings for the site, which is headed by editor-in-chief Clare Rewcastle-Brown.

He also claimed that Xavier Andre Justo only provided 10 percent of the documents related to 1MDB used by Sarawak Report.

The other 90 percent, he said, were created by 'the opposition people'.

"The web designer in London is very good in doing it. If you ask him to create money, he can create money for you and it may look genuine," the former Sarawak Tribune editor said in the video.

He said this in reference to his claim that the documents Sarawak Report used to discredit 1MDB and the prime minister were fabricated.

He also revealed that he had met former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo who is currently being investigated by Thai police over blackmail allegations.
