Muhyiddin Yassin said Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak sacked him as deputy prime minister yesterday with just a simple nod.
"I was called in to meet the prime minister yesterday at about 12.15pm.
"After some discussions, I asked him why he called me in.
"When I asked if this was about a cabinet reshuffle, he had trouble speaking.
"When I asked if I was no longer in the cabinet he nodded, and I said 'thank you',” said Muhyiddin.
He was speaking to reporters today who had asked him on when he was informed about his sudden dismissal.
PM's right to decide who to work with
During the press conference at his home in Bukit Damansara, Muhyiddin did not appear to express any ill will towards Najib.
He said it was the prime minister's right to decide who he wants to work with.
"That is the prime minister's right, I don't want to question it.
"I have advised him, and as a senior politician it is a fact that I must accept.
"I have done my best but if the prime minister feels that I don't need to continue my duties, I accept it," Muhyiddin ( photo ) said.
He then thanked Najib for the opportunity for them to work together, without the slightest hint of sarcasm in his voice.
