Two Malaysians killed in Bangkok blast identified
The two Malaysians who were killed in the Bangkok bomb blast yesterday were a woman and her son.
They have been identified as Lim Saw Gek and son, Neoh Jai Jun.
According to a Wisma Putra statement, their remains have been placed at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok, pending post-mortem.
It said two other Malaysians, identified as Tan Rui Hun and Tan Kim Siok were injured in the incident.
Rui Hun has been warded at the Hua Chiew Hospital Kim Siok was discharged from the hospital earlier, it added.
Through the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok, Wisma Putra said it was in close contact with the local authorities in rendering the necessary consular assistance towards the victims and their families.
“We would like to convey our deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families,” it said.
According to Thai police, at least 12 people were killed and many more injured in the bomb blast in central Bangkok.
The explosion at 7pm (8pm Malaysian time) occurred at the Ratchaprasong intersection, near the famous Erawan Shrine and Bangkok’s colourful and high-street shopping.
