The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will take action against the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) if its reports on 1MDB are false, said the government.
"(The reports) were ill-intentioned, so I will order the MCMC to take the necessary action," Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak said today.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will take action against The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) if its reports on 1MDB are false, said the government.
"(The reports) were ill-intentioned, so I will order the MCMC to take the necessary action," Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak said in Putrajaya today.
He also said authorities should investigate if a public accounts committee (PAC) member did leak information to the WSJ.
He said this when asked if any action would be taken against the WSJ for its report on 1MDB yesterday.
The international daily reported that UAE's International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) has not received a US$1.4 billion collateral payment from 1MDB as promised, to pay off its debts.
1MDB in response accused WSJ of breaking Malaysian laws by publishing confidential information from the PAC.
Salleh was speaking to reporters after launching the registration for the Malaysian Cybergames 2015.
The tournament will see participants compete in Dota 2, to find a team to represent Malaysia in international e-games tournaments.
The Malaysian Cybergames will be held from Dec 8 until 11.
