The police are waiting for Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s decision on the 'red shirts' on Sept 16, before determining if the rally will be given the green light.

Dang Wangi police district OCPD Assistant Commissioner Zainol Samah said they held a meeting with the organisers of the Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu at about 11am today.

"They (the organisers) delivered the notice for assembly under Section 9(1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 to have the gathering at Padang Merbok where they are awaiting approval from the KL City Hall.

"They promised that the gathering would be peaceful, where they placed their own security team to control the participants," he said.

The organisers were represented by National Malay Martial Arts Association (Pesaka) secretary-general Megat Zulkarnain Omardin and other Malay NGO representatives.

The police, Zainol said, would await for the KL City Hall to give their approval under Section 11 of the PAA before deciding on the next course of action.
