Tabung Haji steps up search, missing pilgrim now at eight

Tabung Haji is intensifying efforts to locate Malaysian haj pilgrims who are still unaccounted for, as two more were reported missing following the collapse of a crane on the Grand Mosque in Makkah yesterday, bringing the total to eight.

In a statement today, it said the latest figure was obtained after room-to-room inspections were carried out in all nine buildings housing Malaysian haj pilgrims.

Prior to this, six names were listed as missing following the tragedy which claimed over 100 lives and injuring hundreds of others including 10 Malaysians.

"The two other Malaysian pilgrims who are also reported missing are Abdul Muluk Ishak, 71, of Pantai Remis, Perak, and Susiah Suar, 56, of Gunung Besout 2, Sungkai, Perak," the statement said.

The six still missing are Siti Nurolshlizan Zolkifli, 37, of Tanah Merah, Kelantan; Shahidan Saad, 52 (Kodiang, Kedah); Rohana Ismail, 54 (Kuala Krai, Kelantan); Abdul Habib Lahman, 68 (Sik, Kedah); Zainun Taha, 69 (Ampang, Selangor); and Munah Jusoh, 73 (Cherang Ruku, Kelantan).
