While the family of businessperson K Gobala Guru congratulated the police on its quick work in finding the remains of senior DPP Anthony Kevin Morais yesterday, they are hopeful that police will form a special team to look into their predicament.

Gobala's brother K Dasnamurthy said although they are saddened by the gruesome finding of Morais ( photo ), they congratulate the police for a job well done in apprehending the suspects.

“At the same time, we hope the police will likewise form a special team to apprehend the culprits who kidnapped Gobala and bring the kidnappers to face justice and a closure to this unresolved case.

“It has been more than two years now since my brother was kidnapped and this case is not solved. The family would like the police to set up a special team to investigate Gobala’s case and other similar cases which are still unresolved,” he said in a statement to Malaysiakini.

Dasnamurthy said the family had suggested the formation of a special team to investigate Gobala's disappearance, but the police told them there was no need as the case “is still under investigation”.

Apprehended by four men at convenience store

Dasnamurthy questioned whether the formation of a special team only involves senior government officers or a high profile person.

“Gobala is also a Malaysian citizen and a businessman with family who pay taxes. In light of the quick action by the special team in Morais’ case, the family hopes the police will also set up a special team to investigate Gobala’s case,” he said.

It was reported that Gobala, 46, went missing on Feb 2, 2013, when he went to a convenience store near Jalan Cheras before being apprehended by four men, one of whom Dasnamurthy claimed is a policeman who is working in Shah Alam.

Gobala ran a movie production house and several dance clubs. His BMW car was found badly burnt in Ulu Yam, with the engine and chassis number unidentifiable.

The car was only identified by Gobala's driver from one of the sports rim which was not burnt.

His family had also made a report to the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission upon discovering one of the alleged abductors is a policeman but till today there is no action or closure to the case.
