If not race, what else would Umno talk about?

YOURSAY 'The race card is their trump card. If MCA doesn't like it, get out of BN.'

No race rhetoric at Umno AGM please, says MCA

Appum: What is an Umno general assembly without the usual racial rhetoric? This year's topic will probably be about the 'Maruah Melayu' (Malay dignity).

Instead of discussing how to uplift their own 'maruah' so that others will respect them, it'll be about how great their present 'maruah' is to the world and let nobody forget that.

So MCA senator Chai Kim Sen, who are you to tell them not to defend their great 'maruah'? For all you know, Umno Sungai Besar division chairperson Jamal Md Yunos, the maruah holder, may have a special place at the assembly, not sitting next to the president (that's for his No 2) but standing behind the president, arms akimbo, with a bandana around his forehead and perhaps holding a 'maruah weapon' in his hand?

Let's sit back and watch the display.

Fair&Just: Yes, who are you to tell your master what to do in your master's AGM? MCA is trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the Chinese community again. Racial rhetoric is nothing compared to racist actions.

So does MCA think it is not okay to spew racial rhetoric but okay to carry out racist actions?

Smer: You must be living in dreamland if you expect that much from Umno. Indeed, you've let them get away with it year after year for half a century, what makes you think they will listen now?

Clever Voter: Sadly this is what Umno knows or does best. MCA should have known when they missed the fine print and more so when they accepted the generous goodwill (of Umno).

The men in white will be accused of being ungrateful and mind their own business. It's a little too late.

Malaysia888: Let's face it, Umno members do not have the intelligence or the wisdom to discuss real issues, so once you remove the race-baiting from the agenda, these guys have nothing to talk about.

Anonymous_1419577444: This is such a clear sign of subservience of MCA leaders to their lords in Umno. The Umno meeting is over two months away and we see a MCA senator already starting to plead to his masters to be nice so that he can face his people.

Come on, Chai, have more backbone, will you? Besides, it's impossible to stop so many people from speaking their minds.

1 Malaysia Dalam Bahaya: Expect soon to hear screams from those usual Umno morons that " Melayu dihina " (Malays insulted), " Melayu dicabar " (Malays challenged), " Tak suka, boleh balik Tongsan " (If you don't like it, go back to China), and they would possibly round up a few hundred to burn an effigy of someone, do some butt dance in front of Wisma MCA or vandalise their headquarters.

Labis Guy: Chai, do you think they will listen to you? Keep on dreaming. Take a positive step now, call PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and discuss with her to join the new Pakatan before MCA becomes history.

Lone_Star: Will anyone in Umno listen to what MCA is saying? They'd rather allow hundreds of flowers to blossom and let Jamal continue with his crusade.

Daniel: Chai, are you scared? We aren't. Let them spew their racist rhetoric and show themselves for what they are. Then the citizens and voters can decide.

MacMac: The race card is their trump card. If MCA doesn't like it, it can get out of BN.

Soi Lek: MCA chief should have insisted on Jamal’s arrest

Roger 5201: When is MCA president Liow Tiong Lai going to stop the political sandiwara to say what he means and mean what he says?

Also why is Tourism Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz so quiet when it comes to threats of red shirt violence at Petaling Street?

Appum: I think this time I have to side with former MCA chief Chua Soi Lek against Liow.

What Chua said in the last two days are material facts on the way political power is administered in the BN coalition. In a Malay-dominated cabinet, where its leader is sitting on a shaky throne, do you think Liow would dare to speak up?

More so against a local warlord who is 100 percent 'authorised' and has tangential support from the top boss?

Anonymous #40538199: There is no guarantee that Jamil will be prosecuted even after his arrest. Look at the Ali Tinju sedition case , where the attorney-general did not proceed with the case.

Clever Voter: If you are blind and deaf, probably these words from Chua are refreshing.

But we have seen how every single MCA party leader has been not only a disappointment but totally insincere, and lacking the will to confront problems and end up accepting second best.
