Umno vice president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today rubbished calls by 13 Umno branches for Umno president Najib Abdul Razak to resign.

He said the call from branch leaders from the Teluk Kemang, Negri Sembilan division means little if one considers how the total number of Umno branches nationwide.

“Thirteen out of 20,000,” he said, cynically.

He added that he has yet to see the memorandum submitted by the 13 branch leaders.

“We will go through it in detail when we do,” he told reporters at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Yesterday, the 13 branch leaders lead by Taman TKK branch chief Kamarul Azman Habibur Rahman said Najib should resign so his unpopular standing does not affect Umno in the next general election.

However, Teluk Kemang division leader Mohd Isa Abdul Samad said the branch leaders should have instead state their views at the earlier division general assembly, during the motion to support the party leadership.

Isa, who is also Federal Land Agency (Felda) chairperson added the 13 branch leaders are disrespecting the motion passed at the earlier general assembly.

He said Teluk Kemang Umno is backing Najib as president.
