The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) purportedly 'raided' a firm that is involved in developing and coordinating strategic branding.

A source familiar with the matter confirmed that a team of MACC officers went to the firm to obtain documents, but declined to elaborate.

Malaysia Today , which reported on on the 'raid' yesterday, identified the company as the Petaling Jaya-based Brandworth Corporation, saying it managed BN's media strategy in the previous general election and would be doing the same for the next general election.

"The entire election strategy, budget, funding and other classified information regarding the previous and the coming general elections are now in the hands of the MACC," the article states.

It is not clear if the MACC move is related to the investigation into the RM2.6 billion in Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts or the SRC International investigation.

The RM2.6 billion was described as a political donation from a Middle Eastern donor, ahead of the last general election.

MACC also confirmed that it was a donation, but is still investigating the case, whereas the Finance Ministry-owned SRC International case concerns RM42 million transferred into the prime minister's accounts late last year and early this year.

Contacted by Malaysiakini , Brandworth Corporation's public relations officer Zackzeckarnain Sophian denied there was a raid.

"There was no raid, thank you," Sophian replied in a WhatsApp message.

A check by Malaysiakini revealed the firm has several prominent individuals on its board of directors, including a former secretary to Najib.

Malaysiakini has also contacted MACC deputy commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull and is awaiting his response. Shukri was then said to be in a meeting.

Najib has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and claimed that there is a plot to oust him as prime minister.
