DAP: Azalina setting bad precedent with ‘Najib need not answer’
MatiLoh:
We have idiots in Parliament and sometimes we have an idiot of all idiots.
Is Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Azalina Othman Said saying the prime minister doesn't have to answer to Parliament or the rakyat?
Perhaps that is how BN wanted Parliament to be.
Sun Sun Mei: Azalina, Najib Razak is a MP first then only the PM.
He has to answer questions raised by his fellow MPs who are asking questions in Parliament. What rubbish are you talking about?
Anonymous #33227154: MPs are elected by the people to serve the people. It's their duty to answer the people all questions pertaining to the country's administration.
This is called ‘democracy’, a word that this minister is obviously isn't familiar with.
Chks: The Parliament may as well be an extension of the BN cabinet, where the big boss is the PM, and the speaker is just a pawn.
Doc: I bet Najib is happy that he has his own personal spokesperson in Parliament to help ward off his allegations of corruption and misconduct brought up by the opposition.
Jaycee: Well, now we know how it is done. If you do not want to answer questions in Parliament (especially pertaining to the rakyat's money), hire a person like Azalina.
Shindig: Yet another poster girl for the shameless hypocrisy and integrity deficit within the BN-Umno terror regime.
HRW: Nur Jazlan’s defence of rights abuses ‘pathetic diversion’
Karma: The Human Rights Watch (HRW) report has put Malaysia in a state of ridicule (which is no surprise).
Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed has just deepened the ridicule to a level of no return.
When one cannot defend, one will scream, "Why pick on me and not others?" or "It is our right within the 'law'." What a shameful response.
Aries46: Pathetic is too mild a word. What credibility has Nur Jazlan to defend human rights abuses under Najib's watch when he himself ditched the Public Accounts Committee's (PAC) 1MDB probe, betraying the whole nation for his miserable deputy minister's post?
From the man who had once held the nation's hopes to pin down 1MDB's alleged criminal wrongdoings, he now stands accused of having aided in covering up the crime.
He is now reduced to the gang of perpetrators that has actively aided and abetted the human rights abuses highlighted under their evil master's watch, for nothing more than money and position.
Anonymous_1408265047: HRW is quite correct in its argument. What they are saying certainly applies in the developed world and in certain countries in the developing world. However, Malaysia is another matter.
Malaysia could not possibly be considered as developed. If one runs through each clause of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, testing Malaysia's standing in recent history, it fails miserably on 90 percent of the articles.
Coming from the point of view of the minister, which is a view that categorically rejects the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, he has a point.
His point is that the end justifies the means.
RCZ: Why can't they just answer and justify the arrests, the suspension of business publication The Edge , and the stifling of the opposition and the media by giving valid reasons for doing so?
They can't because there are no valid reasons. It is sheer abuse of power and a clear abuse of human rights.
Tailek: Nur Jazlan and Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang should get their facts rights before they challenge international NGOs.
They should realise they are not talking to pro-Umno blogs, so get your act together or you will get crap on your face again.
Petemedic: Dear Nur Jazlan and Tan, it doesn't matter whether it's US-based or whether the other countries are worse than us.
Obs: You see, HRW, Umno has already given up on the urban voters, so they only need to focus on fooling the kampung folks.
Whatever rebuttals you give won't appear on the local Malay media, so Umno's goals have been achieved.
Why Tell Me?: We have Doraemon and Pokemon as our ministers. Any wonder why Malaysia is called Lala Land?
