Pakatan Harapan bus heading to Putrajaya, says Amanah
Parti Amanah Negara has rubbished PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s statement likening Pakatan Harapan to a directionless express bus.
Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub said Pakatan’s direction was clear, which is to head to Putrajaya.
However, Salahuddin said the same cannot be said about PAS, following the dissolution of Pakatan Rakyat.
“We are clear; Amanah and its partners in the opposition is to take over Putrajaya through Pakatan Harapan.
“There is no express bus in this world that would travel without a destination; all would have a destination.
“Only for PAS, its destination appears unclear and the rakyat are seeing the the bus which PAS is riding on becoming blurry and its destination unknown,” he told Malaysiakini when contacted.
Pakatan Harapan comprises of PKR, DAP and Amanah.
'Pua likely jesting about contest'
On a separate matter, Salahuddin downplayed Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua’s statement that his party was laying the groundwork to contest against eight PAS state seats in Selangor.
The statement came as a surprise as Amanah, a splinter of PAS, is seeking to replace the Islamist party and is expected to take on PAS in these seats.
Salahuddin said Pua’s statement was likely in jest in retaliation to PAS’ threat to contest in DAP’s seats.
“At the Pakatan Harapan level, we are still in the process of consolidating the coalition. We have yet to discuss about which seats to contest,” he said.
DAP previously said it was preparing to contest in eight of PAS’ state seats in Selangor in the next general election.
Pua said the seats are Taman Templer, Lembah Jaya, Paya Jaras, Sri Serdang, Meru, Cempaka, Dusun Tua, and Tanjung Sepat.
However, Pua said the matter will only be finalised by Pakatan Harapan in Selangor.
