Selangor PKR defended the continued presence of PAS state assemblypersons in the state government.
This comes after a Selangor DAP candidate at the state party convention today called for PAS' ouster from the state government , following the break up of Pakatan Rakyat.
Selangor PKR information chief Shuhaimi Shafiei said it was not for Menteri Besar Azmin Ali's own personal interest, but in the interest of the opposition pact.
"The Selangor government must maintain its stand of holistic political cooperation with all parties that want to see a stable political pact to face Umno and BN in the 14th general elections," Shuhaimi said in a statement today.
Shuhaimi, who is also Azmin's political secretary, also said the three PAS exco members were maintained in line with PKR central leadership resolution on Oct 11, calling for political ties must be maintained.
A DAP delegate today called on the party to quit the Selangor government if Azmin does not boot out the PAS excos.
The delegate said this is to break a political deadlock over the ad-hoc PKR-DAP-PAS coalition in the state.
PAS and DAP cut ties with each other, prompting the formation of a new opposition pact dubbed Pakatan Harapan, which PAS is not part of.
The Selangor exco is made up of members from PAS, DAP and PKR, under PKR's leadership.
"No matter what you want to call the coalition, what is important is for us to prove, in the spirit of the previous Pakatan Rakyat, the commitment to cooperate under Pakatan Harapan.
"We are the coalition government for the future of Malaysians," Shuhaimi said.
