BN PAC reps may have gained from RM2.6b, cautions Kit Siang

BN MPs on the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) must declare if they or their parties have benefitted from the RM2.6 billion “donated” to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, said DAP’s Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang.

He said this is because the PAC is probing Najib’s brainchild 1MDB, where Najib is also chairperson of the board of advisors.

This comes after former MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek said Najib, as BN chairperson, before the 13 th general election made an unprecedented pledge to fund BN component parties .

“I call on all the BN MPs who are members of the PAC to declare their pecuniary interests in Najib's RM2.6 billion donation accounts and to withdraw from participation any discussion, decision or investigation into the twin 1MDB and RM2.6 billion scandals to avoid any conflict-of-interest situations.

“This should in fact be the first item of business of the PAC when it meets in parliament tomorrow,” he said in a statement.

He said Chua’s “shocking” revelation also calls to question if all BN candidates who contested in the 2013 general election are implicated by the RM2.6 billion scandal.

As such, he called on all beneficiaries to declare their interests and how much they received for the 13 th polls campaign.

He also called on all BN parties, especially those in Sarawak who will be facing the state election soon, to declare how much they have received from the BN chief.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission confirmed that RM2.6 billion – an amount larger than the Selangor annual budget - was found in Najib’s bank account.

The anti-graft body said the funds came from a Middle Eastern source, raising suspicion of a 1MDB-link given the state investment funds’ ties previous ventures with Middle Eastern firms.

The MACC investigation is on-going.

Najib has refused to disclose who the donor was and what it was for.

However, he has insisted that he has never used public funds for private use.
