YOURSAY | ‘Is Ismail Sabri encouraging everyone in the country to get into this unhealthy habit?’

Ismail Sabri wants M'sian vape to be world famous

Peacemaker: Is Ismail Sabri Yaacob, the ever the enterprising minister, seeking fame or infamy for Malaysia?

We have already excelled in the world corruption rankings, scored abysmally in Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) assessments and pawned our financial credibility with RM42 billion mega-mystery-cum-scandal.

Now this imbecile minister wants to make vaping Malaysia's calling card to the world? Vaping is just like smoking without the ash, but with the entire complement of disease-inducing chemicals.

What a foolish cabinet minister this man is.

2Kali5 Real 'Katak': Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri wants Malaysia to be world-renowned riding on products developed by Western companies that have spent billions and years into bringing the e-cigarette into the market.

He’s bluffing kampung folks into believing that locally produced vape juice would be world number one when it would probably never ever pass the doors of FDA (Food and Drug Administration), let alone getting approval.

CQ Muar: Ismail Sabri, being a minister, you openly declared, advocated and supported the vape industry, hoping it would be recognised worldwide; especially so since many entrepreneurial Malays are involved in the business.

In order to further prove your sincerity, kindly enlighten us if you are a user of vape products?

You need to lead by example - indulge in the product as evidence of your claim that it's not harmful to users.

Doc: It was reported: "Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam said vaping could be just as bad as smoking cigarettes."

Please ignore Subramaniam's comment above. He may be a doctor but a ‘pendatang’ (note that Biro Tatanegara, BTN, has approved usage of ‘pendatang’). He does not have the right to comment on the harmful effect of vaping.

Ismail Sabri is a ‘ketuanan Melayu’ and Umno politician and the rural and regional development minister, thus he certainly has all the credentials, experience and sheer brilliance to override Subramaniam's medical expertise on the vaping issue.

His idea is what Umno brilliance is all about: creating an industry exclusive for the bumiputera entrepreneurs to excel in.

There is only one hiccup. The reason people keep on vaping is because of the nicotine content in the vape. Nicotine keeps vapers hooked to vaping and not the flavour of the vape.

To ensure that people go on vaping or get hooked to vaping, the nicotine content must be added to ensure that customers return for fresh supplies of the vape, thus ensuring these bumi entrepreneurs have return customers and continue to prosper.

It is no secret that nicotine causes numerous health problems, especially to our lungs. So, who will be managing the health problems cropping up from vaping?

The Health Ministry or vapers themselves will have to foot their medical bills resulting from vaping.

Apapunboleh: There's no way e-cigarettes are totally safe. The only thing our lungs are meant to take in is oxygen.

How much nicotine or other potentially harmful chemicals are being inhaled during its use is anybody's guess. The nicotine inside the cartridges is addictive.

When you stop using it, you can get withdrawal symptoms including feeling irritable, depressed, restless and anxious. It can be dangerous for people with heart problems. It may also harm your arteries over time.

Justine Gow: If smoking and vaping existed in the Middle East before Islam came about and if they had known at that time that it would be harmful to the human body, I am pretty certain that vaping would have been classified as ‘haram’.

Now, we have people who are supposedly Muslims wanting to profit from activities that are harmful to the body.

Jaguh: By the way, what's the difference between vaping and doping?

Negarawan: Another stupid Umno minister who doesn't know what he is talking about.

We don’t need to be world famous. Prime Minister Najib Razak is already world famous for vaporising RM42 billion via 1MDB.

Well Thats Fantastic: This is Ismail's soapbox to stand upon, is it?

Not clean governance, not fixing 1MDB, not having his boss step down to save the country, but fighting for our freedom to vape?

Visu: Just when we thought some of the most stupid statements have been said by Umno ministers, we get yet another statement that has taken the threshold of stupidity further down to another level.

Umno members are definitely in competition, but please do not insult the rest of us.
