Former PAS vice-president Husam Musa said he is willing to die for his struggles, including against illegal logging in Kelantan.
He said this after confirming that his wife had received threatening phone calls and SMS that were aimed at him.
"Though I fear for my and my family's safety, InsyaAllah I will not budge in my duties to give honest rebukes based on my struggles, even if my life is at stake," Husam said in a statement today.
The former protege of late PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat has become increasingly vocal against the Kelantan government, especially over illegal logging in the state.
Husam did not reveal the nature of the intimidation but believes it could have come from loggers.
He and his wife have lodged police reports over the matter in Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan.
As such, Husam hopes the Kelantan government will take his advise about preserving its forests seriously.
Yesterday, Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub revealed that Husam's wife received a death threat on Monday.
This was confided to Salahuddin by Husam while the former PAS leader was in Kelantan.
