Perhaps ‘kursus kahwin’ a cover for a junket to Paris

YOURSAY | ‘Surely the French are too liberal for the likes of our religious affairs people.’

'Yapeim money used for marriage courses in Paris'

Bamboo: National Oversight and Whistleblowers (NOW) director Akmal Nasir, keep up the good work.

More exposes like this are needed to open the eyes of the masses to the corruption happening in the Umno-led government.

Posts in government-linked companies (GLCs) and NGOs are held by the elites linked to Umno. The constant is Umno, a totally corrupted party bleeding public money at all levels.

Abasir: “What is the rationality of organising a wedding course for students?” Akmal asked.

Simple. If you are yearning to travel first class to Paris, you cannot use orphans as your reason. So perhaps 'kursus kahwin' - something known only to Umno and PAS - provides the perfect cover.

Worried Sick: It is okay, folks. Remember the other guy with almost the same name who said,"Semuanya OK”?

Well, they probably would be sharing neighbouring cells someday. It is just that I feel so sorry for the orphans and to those good people who are contributing on a regular basis to such charities.

Eyespye: I pity my Muslim brothers and sisters. They pay good money, some by monthly deduction, because they care for the plight of orphaned children and want to contribute to their betterment. And this is what happens.

And now, Muslims in this country have to ask themselves: all that money given to Tabung Haji; all that money put in ASNB (Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad); all that money given as tithe to help the poor - what's happened to all that money? Is it safe? Is it going to right ends?

KO: Why not conduct the 'kursus kahwin' course in Dhaka, Bangladesh since the Bangladeshis are Muslims, too? Or Brunei? Or even Aceh. After all, it will be syariah compliant.

Headhunter: Clever aren't they, using something like a relatively minor course to allegedly go on a junket?

I'm sure there are also many courses in any subject available in London, New York, Amsterdam, Hawaii and all the major capitals in the world that they can set their eye on.

Surely the French are too liberal for the likes of our religious affairs people, so why go to Paris? Why not Indonesia which is a Muslim country? Or maybe one of those Arab countries? Too boring?

And we can be sure that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Someone should be sacked over this.

Let's give our undivided support to NOW for their tenacious effort. For sure, they will be the next target of persecution by the authorities.

RM2.6Billion Duit Haram: When Penang gave RM100 to senior citizens, Umno cried foul, claiming that the money was ‘duit haram’.

Why is it keeping quiet when the minister is spending thousands of ringgit allegedly meant for orphans? Isn't it more haram and cruel to use money meant for those unfortunate kids who lost their parents?

MatiLoh: Face it, there is already an in-built culture of abusing government funds for personal gain.

The auditor-general’s reports, albeit they may not cover all, have been reporting on such abuses but nothing seems to be done except those who are responsible coming out with all sort of excuses.

It is good to see that there are still people like NOW director Akmal who have the guts to come out and tell it as it is. Kudos to him!

Karma: A certain minister can simply say he was not using those funds for personal gain. That will suffice.

PM: Yapeim can act against unfounded statements

CQ Muar: As expected, the prime minister has to defend his minister and accused his critics for making 'unsubstantiated' allegations against Minister in the PM’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom.

This is necessary because anything affecting Jamil Khir can have adverse effect on PM Najib Abdul Razak's reputation, as he himself is in similar dilemma involving billions of ringgit.

DramaQueen: The rakyat have been subject to all kinds of taxes. The ringgit is weakening. The economy not doing so well.

Why can’t the ministers travel in economy class? In these times, can we afford to spend lavishly? In the UK, I am told ministers use public transport to go to work.

Rick Teo: What criminal defamation? There is sufficient proof to show that the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation’s (Yapeim) money was used for golfing and shopping.

The bills incurred are not fictitious. So how could it be defamation of any kind when in actual fact it did occur?

Bumiputeri: How could an alleged bigger crook say that the mess made by the alleged smaller crook is wrong?

The only wrong thing about it is, it is not big enough - it is not in the range of billions.
