Amanah No 2 slams moves to compare him with Mat Sabu
Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) deputy president Salahuddin Ayub has slammed what he said were attempts to pit his style of leadership against that of the party president, Mohamad Sabu.
“The most mischievous attempt is pitting my style of leadership against Mohamad’s, that supposedly, I am pro-PKR and he is pro-DAP,” Salahuddin said in a statement last night.
He believes that such attempts must be the work of quarters who were "jealous" of Amanah’s achievements.
Although the party is only two months old, its achievements thus far have been very encouraging.
Salahuddin pointed out how Amanah leaders have been given the opportunity to join many local and international political platforms and this was proof that Amanah is regarded as an important political entity.
The party’s membership, on the other hand, has reached the 50,000 mark. The party now awaits the return of 150,000 membership forms that had been distributed nationwide.
Progressive and inclusive politics
“Our plan to gain 100,000 members by the end of the year will become a reality, Insyaallah,” he said.
Amanah’s achievements, Salahuddin added, have been due to the party practising progressive as well as inclusive politics.
As for its style of leadership, it emphasises collective responsibility.
“We are united in implementing policies. The president is not conceited and does not make decisions by himself.
“The national committee is also free to reprimand the leadership without fear of threats," he said.
Salahuddin added that based on their many years in politics, both he and Mohamad, who is widely known as Mat Sabu, were mature enough to read the “cheap political stunts” that are being played.
“Insyaallah, although Amanah is still young, it is able to anticipate such things,” he added.
