Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamid has expressed hope that no one would try to remove Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin from politics.
“I hope no one will menerjunkan (remove) him from politics,” he said jokingly.
Speaking at the conferment of honorary and affiliate ranks on young leaders through the Kesatria Muda Keselamatan today, Zahid praised Khairy who has proven that he is not a mere honorary official.
“He was commissioned, he himself went for the courses.
“He was willing to jump from certain heights,” said Zahid, commenting on the training needed to be endured.
Khairy had volunteered for the national reservists and was later promoted to the rank of colonel.
Meanwhile, Zahid also expressed hope that media personnel would also join the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela).
“I will ask Brig-Jen Fadzlette Othman Merican (Zahid’s press secretary) to ensure that media personnel will also become members of Rela.
“A media brigade should be established and when they are on duty as Rela members and wear the uniform, they will look more segak (smart),” he said.
He further joked that those whose body mass index (BMI) are not as required, would be given tailored uniform.
