Malaysia's central bank has had some progress in taking action against 1MDB with regard to approvals given to the state fund, Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz said today.

"We have already, as I had mentioned, completed our investigations and now there is some progress in the actions that are being taken, relating to some of the approvals we have given them (1MDB)," Zeti said to reporters after officiating at the Leadership Energy Summit Asia in Kuala Lumpur.

She declined to comment further as the actions being taken are still in progress.

"I am not at liberty to discuss their status until they are concluded," she explained.

Bank Negara was previously investigating 1MDB under the Exchange Control Act 1953 (ECA).

They had submitted their completed investigation papers to the Attorney-General's Chambers which then refused to prosecute the case.

The attorney-general had said that 1MDB could not be faulted for any alleged offence if Bank Negara did not seek the clarifications it needed.

Zeti then said that Bank Negara's probe into 1MDB was from an ' administrative perspective '.

She also said that the central bank had not made any mistake in its investigations into 1MDB.

Bank Negara insisted that 1MDB provided inaccurate or incomplete information in three transactions amounting to US$1.83 billion.
