DAP has asked Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia to resign for his failure to table parliamentary reforms in Parliament.

"He had told the parliamentary standing order committee (he chaired) that he would table the parliamentary reforms today," said Ng Wei Aik (DAP-Tanjung).

The parliamentary reforms need to be passed by the cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak before being presented to the House, he added.

"However, no such parliamentary reforms were tabled by Pandikar today. It means the cabinet has not accepted the reforms.

"Pandikar had told the parliamentary standing order committee he wanted to pass the reforms so that he could implement them next year.

"If this is not listed in Parliament's Order Paper, it proves that his proposal was not accepted by the cabinet," Ng ( photo ) said.

He added that Pandikar had openly said he would resign if the reforms failed.

"Why is he still here? He should resign. It is meaningless for him to stay. He will fail the people as he cannot uphold the justice of the House," Ng said at the Parliament lobby.

Pandikar had threatened to resign if the reforms are not implemented by next March.

He said Parliament was seen as a rubber stamp to the executive by the public.
