Najib remains confident BN will win next GE

Despite being embroiled in the RM2.6 billion donation and 1MDB issues, BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak still confident that BN will still win in the next general election.

This is because the opposition is in disarray and they are having problems with their leadership, he said.

"I remain confident, God willing, we can still win because if we look at the alternative now, the opposition is disorganised and its leadership also does not seem to be that stable," he said in a joint interview with TV3 , Utusan Malaysia and New Straits Times last night.

Even as he remains confident in BN's success in 14th general election, Najib admitted that their position has dropped a little due to "issues played up by certain parties".

However, as GE14 is in 2018, he said they still have time to keep trying to improve things.

Another obstacle to BN for the general election is social media, he said.

"It influences the thinking of the rakyat and this has caused us to face bigger challenges than we are used to," he lamented.

In the 13th general election in 2013, the opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat won the popular vote, but BN won more seats and managed to form a majority government at the federal level.

The opposition has claimed that BN used malapportionment and gerrymandering to secure the federal government.

Malapportionment and gerrymandering are two different forms of electoral misconduct, where electoral boundaries are drawn in such a manner that unfairly benefits a particular political party, rather than based on geographic consideration and ensuring every vote has equal value in determining who gets into Parliament.
