Najib, why should one party rule forever?

YOURSAY | ‘A two-party system will counter abuse, act as check and balance.’

Najib: A two-party system? No way

Mojo Jojo: Any democracy worth its salt should at least have a two-party system to counter potential abuse from one side of the political divide.

It is because of a lack of accountability due to the absence of a two-party system that Malaysia is in the mess that it is in right now.

Under a dual-party system, do you think Prime Minister Najib Razak could survive the political maelstrom involving the RM2.6 billion "donation," the 1MDB funds that have gone missing, and the Hollywoodesque murder of a Mongolian woman by his police-assigned bodyguards?

I doubt that, and this is probably the reason why a two-party system can never be in place while he is still in power.

Gotcha: Yes, one-party rule will lead to highly corrupt practices. We must have a two-party system to have a check and balance.

SusahKes: What about the 53 percent of the voting population, which is a lot more than the entire Umno membership combined?

Mr Minority PM, it is quite clear that you wish to persist in resisting the will of the majority.

Your sleepless nights are not going to go away so easily, even after you have placated your 'syiok sendiri' crowd at PWTC this weekend.

Mosquitobrain: Najib is seen here playing the racial card by instilling fears among the Malays that they will lost everything if the opposition led by DAP wins in GE14.

Just_A_Rakyat: It looks like only Najib knows what is best for the country. Or is he afraid of a strong opposition?

RKR: Najib, we are not interested in all this. Just tell us what happened to the RM42 million from SRC International and how did the RM2.6 billion appear in your bank account and where did it go to?

If you can't explain, then do the right thing.

Gaji Buta: Some of what he said is sadly true. An opposition dominated by DAP may never shake off its 'Chinese' image.

Until there is a strong Malay opposition party, Umno will rule forever. And the way things are looking in the Muslim world, this may come in the form of a radical Islamic party, and we will go from the present situation to an Islamic state.

Those hoping to see a Malaysia of the 70s and 80s can forget it, as it will be going against the tide.

Vijay47: And this, ladies and gentlemen, is how the president of Umno speaks at its assembly.

Not on the opportunities of the future, not the hopes and aspirations of a community, but a song that has been played out for close to half a century. That Umno must rule in perpetuity.

And what better chorus than the protection of Islam and Malays lest they fall to a lurking DAP-Chinese evil.

Yet despite experiencing on an almost daily basis what Umno is capable of, what it indeed has been doing to a timid nation, the astounding fact is that Umno members still lap it up.

RCZ: The world has moved on. Najib has not. He also doesn't want Malaysia to move on and doesn't want constructive criticism, transparency and accountability.

The only foolish ones are him and Umno. Not for long though, as both are doomed to destruction.

Muhyiddin broke party tradition first, says Zahid

Straight Talk Joe 51: I am not sure who broke tradition first - depriving deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin the honour of officiating at the joint opening of Wanita, Youth and Puteri session came first, or his rally before the AGM?

If you guys can't even count, then what hope do we Malaysians have when you are occupying those top seats in the country?

Aktan: It was announced that the DPM would not be given the honour to address the delegates as done previously. He had no other avenue but to speak out. He had no choice but to "break the tradition".

At least give him a chance to address the right forum as this treatment is as good as putting him in deep freeze. From the reception he had yesterday, he is not alone, Mr President.

RCZ: It was because of the gag that Muhyiddin spoke. As usual, Umno tried to spin and failed miserably.

Anonymous_1419577444: Indeed, it was Najib who broke party tradition by banning Muhyiddin from speaking at the opening of the wings and later, at the closing of the general assembly.

Watch Out: Muhyiddin, this is the price you pay for being silent when you had the chance when you were in the cabinet as DPM and had lots of influence.

Now it has all gone. Sorry, it's too late. Your support among the neutrals is limited - unlike that of Anwar Ibrahim and Musa Hitam back then.
