MIC warns PAS about going down the path of 'terrorism'

MIC Youth chief C Sivarraajh is irked by PAS' celebration of the Court of Appeal decision which insisted non-Muslim M Indira Gandhi must go to the Syariah Court to reverse the unilateral conversion of her children to Islam by her ex-husband, describing such an ideological approach as a path to "terrorism".

Sivarraajh said this in reference to PAS Youth deputy chief Khalil Abdul Hadi who hailed the appellate court's decision as a victory for Islam and against the liberal agenda.

Sivarraajh stressed that this was not an issue of challenging Islam, but a reminder that Malaysia was a multicultural country and that peace is maintained through laws which are fair to all.

"It is people like Khalil Abdul who instigates and instils unwarranted thoughts in affecting harmony that we possess as Malaysians.

"I strongly condemn his thoughts and ideologies in assuming that conversion issues are not to be questioned.

"I'm not afraid to say, that these are the exact ideologies that gives birth to terrorism," said Sivarraajh in a statement today.

Sivarraajh pointed out that non-Muslims enjoy equal rights in professing their religion and the civil courts are their only avenue to seek redress in issues pertaining to religion.

"To claim that denial of such rights as a victory for Islam is merely a cheap stunt. I would say it comes as a total failure of the justice system that we proclaim it instils," he added.
