Horror tunes on repeat, Rafidah plugs ears over state of nation

Former cabinet minister Rafidah Aziz appears not to be keen on tapping her feet to the beat of Malaysian politics and governance.

She said the situation is like the 'Mexican Shuffle' – "one step forward, two steps back, and things go back to square one!"

She was referring to "two big issues" causing what she claims is a "political and national haze" but did not specify which.

This comes after Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali said his office returned the investigating papers on the SRC International and RM2.6 billion cases, involving the prime minister to investigators for clarification.

"Is there any seriousness at all in finding the truth? In resolving the issues so that national and economic government can, once again, become the priority?

"It is very worrying if things slide back to the beginning of the fiasco, when mudslinging and barbed remarks inflame sentiments. And there continues to be the uncertainties and concerns all round.

"I am beginning to sound like broken record! But then, people seem to be playing the same old eardrum-piercing horror tunes and dramas!" she said on her Facebook page.

She added that faith in the government can be restored if inefficiencies are fixed quickly.

Malaysia is facing uncertain political and economic conditions, especially with the continuing oil price slide.

Petronas said it targets to cut a whopping RM50 billion in capital and operating expenditure in the next four years in the face of slipping prices.

The oil giant's cutbacks will send waves across the economy, with its many vendors already cutting jobs to cope.
