Harapan needs to prove itself in Sarawak polls

YOURSAY | ‘Harapan needs ‘win-win’ strategies to inspire new voters during GE14.’

80pct S'wak seat negotiations done, says Harapan

Magic Dragon: Common sense and sacrifices rule the day! You do not pick lame horses to run in races but rather, the selection must be based on past record.

During the last Sarawak election, PKR contested in 49 seats and won just three - this result does not give a glowing confidence to Pakatan Harapan.

Meanwhile, DAP contested in 15 seats and came home with 12 victories... that seems to be a pretty good record to me.

Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) should contest all 11 seats, while PAS would be fielding their lost souls!

Perhaps, PKR should reconsider pulling out some of the seats they contested in the previous state election, and give them to Amanah. DAP should remain the same.

It will be marvellous to see PAS get a drubbing.

The Analyser: It is truly incredible how a group of political parties with no vision and no direction can endlessly quibble over seat allocations.

It’s no wonder that Malaysian politics is in such a mess when it is based on the popularity of individuals instead of overall policies and direction.

All these parties change their minds by the day, depending on which crisis is uppermost in their feeble little minds.

Truly, it is a uniquely Malaysian characteristic how nobody can think ahead, and it dominates every aspect of Malaysian life - from the way you drive, to the way you run your country.

It’s an amazing phenomenon that a multiracial - supposedly educated - society can be so devoid of common sense, vision, and pretty well barren when it comes to principles.

All these people can think of is self, self, self and money.

Voice: The bad thing is, PKR is still hooked up with PAS despite the latter not being included in Pakatan Harapan.

This state election is one good method to gauge the sincerity of PKR and their supporters towards DAP and Pakatan Harapan.

PAS will be contesting in 11 constituencies, and some of them might clash with DAP.

From here on, we will see which parties would those PKR supporters lend their votes to. Will they support PAS to sabotage DAP winning and performances in Sarawak?

We need to look at the overall angle - including comparing those DAP performances in constituencies with and without PAS’ involvement.

There is one thing we can almost say for sure: despite not even being into the election yet, that is the performances of PAS.

PAS can go for any seats they want and they are not just going to lose, but they will lose badly for sure. In some seats, they may not even able to recover their deposit.

So, we will simply wait and watch their performances in those seats where they will be clashing with DAP.

Dont Just Talk: The new Pakatan Harapan leaders should lead the way in Sarawak and show voters that they can come up with ‘win-win’ strategies to inspire new voters during the coming 14th general election.

It is not a question of how many seats each party is going to file, but it must translate into be a winnable candidate.

Adenan Satem is not a lightweight and during his short tenure as Sarawak chief minister, he has made all the right decisions by having English as the state’s official second language and recognising the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) in Sarawak - which our own education minister still refuses to do so, to date.

Sadly, Sarawak voters have failed to see the big picture on the RM4 billion financial scandal , which has weakened the ringgit to RM4.1:US$1 and RM2.9:S$1.

Wake up Sarawakians, use your head when you vote in April, 2016.

Doc: With PAS out of Pakatan Harapan, I guess technically the seat allocation process should run smoothly, I hope.

Shanandoah: It's only a matter of time before DAP has to go it alone. Better for them to begin in the upcoming Sarawak state election.

This will show the way to how voters should choose their parliamentarians and state assemblypersons in the peninsula. Sarawakians can surely lead the way for all Malaysians!

NNFC: All the candidates will not be permitted to enter Sarawak if Adenan has his way.
