Former Umno Batu Kawan vice-chief Khairuddin Abu Hassan has lodged yet another report against attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali for alleged abuse of power, this time with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

This is over Apandi's move to clear Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of wrongdoing in the investigation into the RM2.6 billion deposited into the premier's personal bank accounts and also alleged misappropriation in SRC International.

He had similarly lodged a police report against Apandi on Jan 27, urging cops to probe the attorney-general for what he claimed was "possible abuse of power, criminal negligence, twisting of facts and preventing public officers from performing their duty".

"We ask that the MACC investigate whether there was any element of abuse of power of criminal negligence over the attorney-general's stance to clear the prime minister," he told journalists outside the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya today.

Khairudin arrived at the MACC headquarters at around 11am and spent almost three hours there.

Najib has consistently denied any wrongdoing and claimed the massive deposits in his personal bank accounts were political donations.

Last week, Apandi cleared Najib of any wrongdoing and revealed that the remainder of the RM2.6 billion had been returned to the purported Arab donor.

Khairuddin is seen as a loyalist of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad who has vowed to oust Najib as prime minister.

He was detained for almost two months in September under the Security Offences (Special Measures Act) on grounds of economic sabotage after he lodged police reports across the globe claiming misappropriation of funds by 1MDB.

On a separate matter, Khairuddin slammed the bid to remove Mukhriz Mahathir as menteri besar, seen as a retaliatory move against Mahathir.

He blamed the bid on Umno supreme council members who were subservient to Najib.

"Those who sit in the Umno supreme council are like cows being led left and right by their noses," he said.
