MCA, pray that you’ll not eat your words on OSA

YOURSAY | ‘Will MCA break ranks when the OSA amendments are put to vote in Parliament?’

OSA amendments will be regressive, warns MCA chief

Dont Just Talk: MCA president Liow Tiong Lai, for the first time literate Malaysians agree with you that the Official Secrets Act (OSA) amendments as suggested by attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali are indeed a regressive step.

Apandi finds that whistleblowers are more dangerous than corrupt political leaders and should be sentenced to life imprisonment plus whipping.

It is alright to receive RM2.6 billion and declare it as a donation and another RM42 million by claiming that the account holder has no knowledge of the money.

What a brilliant AG we have in Malaysia.

Wong Fei Hoong: Talking is one thing and supporting it in Parliament is another. Will MCA break ranks when the OSA amendments are put to vote in Parliament?

Let’s see if MCA has the balls to do so.

Beeep!: Liow, indeed you should be greatly alarmed. The nation is moving towards a dictatorship. As a member of the cabinet, you must raise far stronger objections or step down.

Better that than stand accused of being a running dog. Yes, show some guts, man.

N1: Unfortunately, like many other issues when your master in Umno tells you to support the motion, you are expected to do so.

It’s better to talk less now so that you will not have to eat your own words later.

Hplooi: You can actually see the agenda which have more traction in Malaysia. Shell (a producer of oil) is funding Miros, an institute promoting safer (or more?) highways.

What happened to studies on sustainable public transport? Where is Spad (Public Land Transport Commission) on this?

Do we even have a coherent 'national' public transport plan instead of just a plan for 'Klang Valley' and tolled expressways?

The tolled highway industry is part of the political patronage system and has extraordinary influence on public policy to the detriment of the long-suffering Malaysian public; who incidentally pays multiple taxes just on transport - income tax, state tax, road tax, toll highway, and (possibly) petrol tax.

Anonymous 1890491455255851: So the MCA still exists. It’s hard to tell seeing that it seems to have found solace in some corner of a very dark cave.

Gerakan man speechless if ‘fortified’ OSA used to hide graft

Shanandoah: Can corruption, bribery and other government misdemeanours be deemed official secrets? If not, why the need to strengthen the Official Secrets Act 1972 (OSA)?

The OSA is to protect the nation from external threats. It is not to protect thieves, robbers and rascals from being exposed of their wrongdoing.

Apandi, do you understand the relevance of this Act in the first place?

Tan Kim Keong: Dumb and dumber. Why is Gerakan deputy Youth chief Andy Yong not censuring the deputy prime minister as well, when the latter has expressed agreement with Apandi's proposal?

As for the dumber, MIC Youth chief C Sivarraajh is stating the obvious, i.e. the Act should not be abused.

Oscar Kilo: These Gerakan, MCA and MIC Youth folks talk big, but it is only hot air. The problem with you is that not only are you speechless, but your speech is worthless.

Prove me wrong by speaking up against your boss, Umno.

Fly-On-The-Wall: You are in the government. So rather than being speechless, you should oppose this in the House when it comes to voting time.

Worldly Wise: In 1955-57, MCA leader Tan Cheng Lock and MIC leader Mr VT Sambanthan would put their foot down whenever there was any injustice to anyone. The present MCA and MIC leaders must likewise be alert.

If people lose their voice, the leaders too would lose theirs as well. In 1955-57, the job was easier. Then PM Tunku Abdul Rahman made sure there was no injustice to anyone as far as he could.

Amended OSA sure path to communism, says MCA Youth leader

Roguekiller: Don't be so daft MCA legal bureau chief Ng Kian Nam; you think MCA is being shielded by Umno and that such laws would not literally affect MCA as there are two different applications of the law - one for the BN folk and the other for others.

Rethink your idiotic approach, for one fine day you may be affronted by your support and have the amended law slapped on you.

GE14now: The AG was speaking what lurks in his heart, and it is clearly displayed for all to see that his every intention is to protect his political masters. This AG is not concerned with the law.

Well, keep on doing whatever it is that you are doing, Mr AG. Just remember that when the regime changes, they will use the same laws against you.

At that point in time, when they lock you up and throw the key away, I will tender for the privilege to be the one throwing the key away.

Drngsc: Apandi plans to make Malaysia free of corruption by jailing all the whistleblowers. No whistleblower, no corruption. See, he is smart.
