Who should we believe, Zahid or the Bangladeshi gov’t?
YOURSAY | ‘They have called Zahid’s bluff on our freeze of the Bangladeshi workers intake.’
M'sia's foreign worker freeze ‘eyewash’, says Bangladesh ministry
Tholu:
So, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Bangladeshi Expatriate Ministry acting secretary Begum Shamsunnahar has called your bluff on the suspension of Bangladeshi workers intake by our government.
In fact, the whole world has called the whole Malaysian government’s bluff on all of its claims, explanations and statements over its innumerable scandals - including the 1MDB and RM2.6 billion “Arab prince donation”.
Of course we, the citizenry of this country, know very well that you people in the government are a complete bunch of spinners.
But your Umno government is creating all sorts of laws to arrest whistleblowers and silence those who question your seemingly corrupt ways.
Zahid, you and your ilk should kindly be reminded that: be you ever so high, the law that God invokes upon your demise is above you.
And it will surely be a lot more agonising than your draconian laws that were devised to silence your critics and dissenters to remain in perpetual power.
Unafraid: How typical of the way this government works.
They would make decisions without proper thinking and planning, but seem to act purely based on selfish political interests.
After that, they would simply do cosmetic manoeuvres to try to cover up their real agenda.
We don't even run a small and medium enterprise (SME) this way, let alone a nation.
It really reflects what kind of third-rate leaders we have, who had brought such great shame to the country and much suffering to the rakyat.
Clearly, this memorandum of understanding (MOU) that has been signed by Putrajaya - once implemented - will have serious consequences on the social fabric and demography of the nation.
But do the politicians care - as long as certain groups are able to enrich themselves in the process?
How much further can we afford to allow our beloved country to sink this low?
Hamzah Paiman: According to Begum Shamsunnahar, "The Malaysian government has made the announcement to calm the pressure groups..." This is so embarrassing.
Now even countries like Bangladesh are laughing at us. Malaysians have lost their sense of self-worth, all thanks to DPM Zahid.
Xiao Zhu: The intake of all foreign workers has been frozen ? Whoever believes it must be senile. There seem to be too much corruption allegations said about this “import business”.
The current woes of illegal and legal migrants have yet to be solved, but apparently there is still the need to bring in so many of them.
Just name which other country would allow such nonsensical recruitment of manpower and derive its own citizens of employment?
These days you can find “imported manpower” working in IT malls, restaurants, as service staff, etc.
I’m sure that in no time at all, you will likely find them in banks and clerical jobs, too.
Fair Play: I am not a lawyer, but I have sufficient knowledge to know that a memorandum of understanding is just a memorandum of understanding.
There is no legal basis for its enforcement in a court of law.
But of course, with the RM2.6 billion football being kicked around, anything can happen in Bolehland.
Perhaps Begum Shamsunnahar has just let the cat out of the bag? A legally enforceable contract (or contracts) might have already been signed between the two governments.
Anonymous_1421806811: It looks like the whole government is thoroughly incompetent, highly inconsistent, and has been going all out to hoodwink the public.
Who are we going to believe, our great DPM or the Bangladeshi Expatriate Ministry acting secretary?
Come on Zahid, what is your reply to this?
Worldly Wise: ‘Eyewash’ is a diplomatic expression, meaning that it is an untrue statement.
Kit P: The Bangladesh authorities know the real story. These Umno-BN ministers' flip-flopping is just for show.
Gaji Buta: Here is the question that begs to be answered: is Umno capable of not spinning and telling the truth?
