Najib's achievement the pride of Pahang, says crown prince

Najib Abdul Razak's achievements during his 40 years in politics and the government has become the pride of the people of Pahang, especially in Pekan.

Pahang Tengku Mahkota Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said Najib's journey from being a member of Parliament, to the menteri besar of Pahang, to cabinet minister, and eventually as prime minister, brings about a sense of nostalgia.

"This achievement is very nostalgic for me, because 40 years ago, him (Najib) and I, we did not have white hair, and today, our hair and eyebrows are totally white.

"This shows he has been through a lot of experiences. Many ups and downs, but we have to be proud of the many achievements he has made," he said while congratulating Najib.

Tengku Abdullah said this when opening Universiti Automotif Malaysia DRB-Hicom in Pekan today, and the ceremony was attended by Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor.

Also present were Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob, Higher Education Minister Idris Jusoh and DRB-Hicom Berhad Group managing director Mohd Khamil Jamil.

At the event Tengku Abdullah was also appointed the first chancellor of DHU.

Feb 21, 2016, is a momentous date for Najib, marking his 40 years of involvement in Malaysian politics.

Najib contested the Pekan parliamentary by-election on Feb 21, 1976, at the age of 23, before being appointed menteri besar of Pahang in 1982, the youngest in history - at the age of 29.
