DAP has not received any official invitation to the March 27 "closed-door gathering" organised by former law minister Zaid Ibrahim against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The party's organising secretary Anthony Loke disclosed this at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

If they do eventually get an invite, Loke said they will discuss the matter within the party first before deciding anything.

He also stressed that DAP is not involved at all with the gathering.

Previously described as a rally, Zaid clarified on Tuesday that the March 27 event would actually be a "closed-door" and "invite-only" gathering of about 1,000 people.

"I see many readers still talking about the rally on March 27. It's a gathering of leaders in a closed-door setting. I never said it will be a street protest, or a public rally. I'm not like Bersih," Zaid had tweeted.

He said he will invite representatives of political parties from across the divide, student leaders, and civil society members, to push for an independent investigation on 1MDB.

1MDB is now being investigated by the bi-partisan Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

PAC today said it will table the auditor-general's report on 1MDB next month.

Attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has cleared Najib of wrongdoing on the RM2.6 billion donation and RM42 million from state-owned SRC International, found in his personal bank accounts.

Apandi has said the RM2.6 billion was a political donation from the Saudi royal family.

The Wall Street Journal , however, insists its investigations found a money trail leading back to 1MDB - a claim 1MDB denies.

Najib, who is chairperson of 1MDB board of advisers, has denied any abuse of public funds.

Rafizi accepts invitation

Meanwhile, PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli said he had received and accepted Zaid's invitation to attend the gathering.

However the Pandan MP disclosed he would be attending in his personal capacity and not as a PKR representative.

"I discussed this with Zaid on Monday. He told me the format of the gathering and I said I will attend," he told reporters during a press conference at PKR headquarters today.

"I have never missed a chance to 'whack' Najib or Rosmah anywhere," he jested, noting that invitations were extended to most of the couple's fiercest critics.
