The now infamous caricature of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak with a "clown face" was spraypainted onto the walls of Malaysia Hall in Perth, Ausrralia.

Pictures circulating on social media show the stickers pasted on the building's front door and exterior walls.

Red spray paint was also used to mark a cross on the caricatures.

The caricatures were a copy of the online poster first uploaded by activist artist Fahmi Reza, who is now being investigated by the police over the matter.

"The rebellion is now spreading to Australia," Fahmi said in a Facebook posting.

Alerted about the incident on social media, the activist said many would deem this act as vandalism.

"It's easy to label youths who resort to graffiti as vandals or troublemakers, but have we considered why they choose to use the method to express their dissatisfaction?

"When voices of dissent use the right channels, they are not heard or blocked out.

"But when they use other forms of communication they are oppressed and action is taken against them by the authorities. So youths create other channels to send a message to those in power," he added.

In solidarity with Fahmi, graphic artists produced their versions of Najib with a clown face, with some also creating an animated GIF game allowing users to put the prime minister behind bars.
