One of those accused of murdering senior deputy public prosecutor Kevin Anthony Morais fears for his life after being allegedly threatened by a witness.

According to The Star , when hearing adjourned at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, S Ravichandaran claimed a witness made a throat-slitting gesture at him from the public gallery.

"I was shocked, why would he do this to me," he said.

Earlier through his lawyer, Ravichandran had applied to the court to allow him to make a police report against a witness who made a death threat.

"Yesterday (Wednesday), during lunch hour, a witness came to threaten him, said he would chop him to death," his lawyer told the court.

Kevin's brother Richard Morais was the first witness to take the stand in the trial, which started yesterday.

Meanwhile, Utusan Online reported that almost all the reporters covering the trial had to dash out of the courtroom when a package believed to contain the tissue samples and bones of the victim were brought in for identification by a chemist.

The report stated that the stench was unbearable that it even forced the prosecution team to wear masks.

Besides Ravichandran, five others have been charged with the gruesome murder, where Kevin’s remains were found in concrete-filled drum.

The five are G Gunasekaran, 48; R. Dinishwaran, 24; A K Thinesh Kumar, 23; M Vishwanath, 26 and S Nimalan, 23.

They are accused of committing the offence between 7am and 8pm on Sept 4, 2015, between Jalan Dutamas Raya Sentul and No. 1 Jalan USJ1/6D, Subang Jaya.

Army pathologist Colonel Dr R. Kunaseegaran, 53, pleaded not guilty to abetting the six in the murder.

They face the mandatory death penalty if convicted, under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
