S'WAK POLLS Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has said the opposition’s failure to reach a consensus on seat allocations in the Sarawak election is a sign that it cannot form a strong government.

Furthermore, Najib said, it showed the opposition cannot reach a pact to serve the people of Sarawak.

He said that BN winning two seats - Bukit Sari and Bukit Kota - uncontested also proved that the coalition between the opposition parties is loose.

“This is a sign that they cannot form a government that can bring confidence to the people of Sarawak, because even at the onset, they failed to reach a consensus.

“Sarawak voters must not support the opposition because the future of the state will be more prosperous if BN continues to govern,” he is quoted as saying by Bernama.

Meanwhile, Najib, who is also BN chairperson, called on the party machinery to ensure a massive victory in the state polls.

'Reclaim seats from the opposition'

“We do not only want a bigger majority in terms of seats, but also to reclaim the seats from the opposition and increase the popularity vote so that the state government led by (Chief Minister) Adenan (Satem) is strong, solid and represents all races,” he added.

DAP and PKR are locking horns in six seats, with both parties blaming each other for the matter.

Meanwhile, Adenan said the two uncontested seats won by BN were "a morale booster for the party".

The Sarawak BN chairperson said it was a sign that the opposition had no consensus at all.

"Of course, it is a moral booster for us and a moral letdown for the opposition. The opposition pact is very loose. No consensus, and they are not coming together," Adenan said.
