Azmin, time to show PAS that rakyat are the boss
YOURSAY | ‘If you have one foot in each camp, you will soon fall flat on your face.’
Azmin to meet Amanah after 'quit ultimatum' to PAS excos over by-election
Don't Worry Be Happy: Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali, you cannot have a legal wife and be flirting with a mistress. You will end up a broken man like all unfaithful husbands.
There is only one way - take the high road and strengthen Pakatan Harapan and get ready for GE14.
Your chances to remain as MB of Selangor is far better if you place your faith in DAP and Amanah, your trusted partners.
Aries46: PAS cannot claim legitimacy to contest in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar simply because it contested there previously. PAS was then in the Pakatan Rakyat coalition, which is no more.
It has since compromised its position as an opposition party and has made known its support for PM Najib Razak and 1MDB and has allegedly become an Umno-BN ally with intention for a future unity government to advance its hudud agenda through this union.
As such PAS is unlikely to go all-out to defeat its new-found friends and its claim to fight BN in the above constituencies could be a ploy to aid a BN victory. Pakatan Harapan should not fall into this treachery.
It should contest even at the risk of a three-cornered fight. Never forget the slew of alleged betrayals by PAS that engineered the demise of Pakatan Rakyat that weakened the opposition and strengthened Umno-BN. PAS leader Abdul Hadi Awang and Najib are in the same bed.
Frank: Yes, Azmin, it is time to show to the gang in PAS who is the boss! The boss is the rakyat - and the rakyat have had enough of PAS.
Show them the door and bring in Amanah to take over the exco positions. Pakatan Harapan in Selangor and elsewhere need to do all for the coming general election. My do'a to Allah swt for you and the rest.
Onyourtoes: It is about time to put PAS into its proper box. A win by PAS is meaningless to Pakatan Harapan, the cause of the opposition and better governance.
Quigonbond: Amanah, I know you want to break the egg but think long-term a bit. Even if PAS wins these two elections, it's not your end. In fact, it should galvanise Malaysians that there is a real chance to topple BN, and you will win in GE14.
Also, since you have given way to PAS, you've also extracted a lot of goodwill from Malaysians including PAS supporters. If PAS tries to cannibalise your seats in GE14, they will be punished for not being gentlemen.
Kudaku Lari: Let PKR stand in Sungai Besar because the seat is in Selangor. As the party that leads the Selangor government, PKR (or Amanah) stands a good chance to win.
DAP will give its strongest support and Azmin as the state's MB is in a far better position to deliver what are needed by voters in Sungai Besar, such as development, etc. PAS will be helpless on its own.
Christy: Azmin, give us a break. How can there be a straight fight between PKR and BN when PAS insists on contesting in both seats?
Amanah will likely win big as they will have most of the non-Malay votes. As for PKR, you have lost much respect and trust from the rakyat after all your childish and selfish behaviour in Sarawak.
Sans Blinkers: Very ‘susah’ for Azmin who owes Hadi. Learn that if you have one foot in each camp, you will soon fall flat on your face.
Current public perception of Azmin is not very flattering, remember that people have the vote in their hands in the next GE, so redeem yourself before it is too late.
Don't hold S'gor to ransom on by-elections, Amanah tells PAS
Hang Tuah PJ: Azmin, if you allow PAS to contest the seat in Selangor, be prepared to lose the seat. Everyone, including Muslims are fed up with PAS and don't trust them anymore and will not vote for them.
See how Hadi is behaving, telling the three exco members in Selangor not to quit but to wait to be expelled.
If these three PAS exco members had any grey matter at all, they should resign from the dying party PAS and join Harapan.
Don't Worry Be Happy: I do not see how Pakatan Harapan can lose in the long run. Let PAS defy common sense, let them eat the humble pie.
If PAS cooperated, there is a good chance it will open the door for future negotiations with Pakatan Harapan for GE14. Their only alternative is to join Umno-BN and be enrolled as an alleged ‘political beggar party’.
SSDhaliwal: Let them quit, after all they already have one foot in Umno. If Amanah succumbs to PAS' blackmail now, they will do so again in GE14 knowing that they can get away with it.
Besides, I believe that not all PAS state assemblypersons will join Umno, many would rather leave PAS than join Umno.
Kudaku Lari: Hadi said not all Chinese support DAP. He should also say that not all Malays support PAS. The truth is that only a small percentage of Malays support PAS. The worst is that not all PAS members support PAS because half of them are already with Amanah. So who is left with PAS?
Let Hadi threaten to quit the Selangor state government. I would like to see how many PAS assemblypersons will do that.
