K KANGSAR POLLS Azalina Othman Said does not represent BN, and voters in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar should support BN candidates to protest the hudud bill the Umno minister put forward, Wanita MCA chief Heng Seai Kie said.

"Azalina put forward (the motion), but Umno does not represent BN. Umno is just part of BN.

"So we should support the BN candidates, and the Chinese should tell the parties across both divides that they disagree with hudud," Heng said during her visit to a market in Kuala Kangsar this morning.

The government, through Azalina, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, had prioritised PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's Private Member's Bill, which seeks to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965.

The amendments to the federal law would allow for hudud to be enforced in Kelantan.

"I believe that the Chinese cannot accept Hadi's Private Member's Bill," said Heng.

'MCA's conscience is clear'

"They will cast their vote to express their views that will equally represent the voice of the 6.8 million Chinese nationwide."

She said no voter has so far asked MCA about the fact that an Umno minister had brought the bill forward.

She said MCA's conscience was clear as it had not betrayed the Chinese community.

DAP, on the other hand, was a traitor as it had empowered PAS, Heng added.

Perak DAP chairperson Nga Kor Meng had slammed MCA for knowing about the Hadi's Private Member’s Bill but yet daring to campaign in the twin by-elections.

Nga described MCA as a traitor to the community.

Heng challeged Nga to come to her if he had forgotten how DAP had empowered PAS, saying that her party has all the records.

Heng, who is also national unity and integration adviser to the Prime Minister's Department, disagreed with PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man's statement.

"Everything that happens in the country will have an impact on all the citizens," she said in response to Tuan Ibahim asking why the non-Muslims want to stop hudud when Muslims did not object to the burning of the hell money.

"He (Tuan Ibrahim) is being selfish. He tried to make this as though we are racist. No, we are not. The existing laws are more than sufficient. We shouldn't have two sets of criminal juridiction in the country," Heng said.
