KL Tower to work with NGOs in avoiding wastage of Ramadan buffet

Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) will forge cooperation with several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in an effort to reduce wastage of its Ramadan buffet.

Its chief executive officer, Meor Shahril Anuar Ahmad Rathuan said KL Tower planned to donate and distribute its surplus or untouched food to the needy through the relevant NGOs.

He said the effort could serve as part of KL Tower’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to help ease the burden of those in need around the federal capital.

“In previous years, we only accepted customers who had made early bookings to avoid wastage... we only allowed 10 to 11 walk-in customers.

“Through this method, we would be able to forecast the amount of food required and avoid us from preparing excess food,” he told reporters after the KL Tower Ramadan Buffet food tasting in Kuala Lumpur last night.

Meor Shahril Anuar said KL Tower did not intend to impose a fine on its customers who wasted food during Ramadan and would instead remind them not to be greedy.

Meanwhile, the public can enjoy more than 50 kampung dishes prepared by Chef Ismail at KL Tower’s Mega View Banquet Hall from today until July 3, 6.30pm to 10pm.

It is offering the Ramadan buffet for RM99 per adult and RM59 per child.

Customers will also have the opportunity to visit the tower’s Observation Deck and to view the city through the KL Tower Sky Box for RM20 when they purchase the Ramadan buffet package.

The menu served includes ‘gulai lemak siput sedut’, ‘daging salai masak lemak’, ‘nasi ulam’ as well as various types of kuih.
