Former PAS vice-president Husam Musa, who was expelled from the party on April 23, has expressed his intention to join Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

“I have not declared I will enter this party, but my heart is in it,” Husam, who is also Salor assemblyperson, Berita Harian quoted him saying at a ceramah in Kota Lama Kanan, Kuala Kangsar, last night.

Husam, who is campaigning for Amanah's candidate Ahmad Termizi Ramli, said he believes the nuclear physicist could shock the public by winning the Kuala Kangsar by-election.

“I have participated in campaigns in Kampung Rambai 7 and the response has been very good. Insya'allah (God willing) Ahmad Termizi will win this seat on June 18,” said Husam

Malaysiakini has sought Husam's comments over his intention to join Amanah and is awaiting his response.

It was reported on May 6 that the PAS disciplinary committee expelled Husam for breaching the party constitution.

"Hence the committee unanimously decided to take disciplinary action to sack Husam from the party, effective April 23," said the committee's chairperson Sanusi Daeng Mariok.

'Hadi Bill against joint decision'

Sanusi said the dismissal was based on article 82 (6)(d) of the party constitution (amended 2011).

Husam had also filed an appeal over the disciplinary committee's decision, and alleged that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang had been wrongly advised in going against the Islamist party's decision to table a Private Member's Bill to pave the way for implementation of hudud in Kelantan.

Husam claimed Hadi's move also went against a decision by a federal-level joint technical committee on syariah offences that met in Kota Bharu from Dec 18 to 20, 2014.

The Kelantan government and federal government joint committee had unanimously decided the motion must be brought by a minister, after going through the Royal Council.
