A Selangor DAP committee member has decried Pahang mufti Abdul Rahman Osman's decision to label the party as kafir harbi, non-Muslims who can be killed for waging war on Islam.

Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof said the remarks were politically lopsided as some BN component parties opposed hudud as well.

"Why are they not among those whom we must wage war against? Is it because they are with BN?" Edry asked in a statement today.

MCA, MIC, Gerakan, and Sarawak-based parties have openly voiced their opposition to hudud, with leaders such as MCA's Liow Tiong Lai, Gerakan's Mah Siew Keong and MIC's Dr S Subramaniam threatening to quit the cabinet if the Islamic criminal law was implemented.

Edry said an individual may oppose hudud due to constitutional and legal reasons, and not simply because they hated or opposed Islam.

He pointed out that many Islamic scholars throughout the world were still debating on whether hudud was relevant in this day and age.

Abdul Rahman had made the remarks about DAP in an interview with Utusan Malaysia.

However, he clarified with Malaysiakini that his statement was not just directed at DAP, but all those who opposed Islam.

"Not DAP only. Whoever is kafir (infidel) and against Islam.

"As long as DAP is against this, then this is the way (being labelled as kafir harbi)," Abdul Rahman said.
