Perhaps 1MDB kitchen too hot for Husni, Wahid

YOURSAY | ‘For how long can such a regime last before the entire country goes bust?’

Mahfuz: Did Husni, Wahid run away from 1MDB scandal?

Kim Quek: Those who have some self-dignity left in them have opted out (for example, Husni Hanadzlah and Abdul Wahid Omar), and those who were not prepared to completely forego their statutory duties to act against the suspect were either forced out or annihilated (for example, Abdul Gani Patail and Abu Kassim Mohamed). And so, what do we have in replacement?

Answer: People without any integrity and without any moral principle.

Through such process of successive elimination of the not so bad and successive replacement with the really bad, this country will increasingly be helmed by true-blooded scoundrels who command zero credibility from the public.

For how long can such a regime last before the entire country goes bust?

Tell the Truth: Well done, Husni! You have recovered your dignity by resigning from all your posts because everything Umno apparently stands for now is corruption.

Better yet, leave Umno totally.

6th Generation Immigrant: Yes, one can be pretty sure they (Husni and Wahid) know more than they are letting on, and are unwilling to be in this Malaysian quagmire.

Remember, asking questions, seeking answers and talking to public are all "arrestable offences" in today’s legal interpretation.

What's left is to either quit quietly or be sacked. Now that makes more than half a dozen – the attorney-general, Bank Negara governor, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission commissioner, Wahid, Husni, Muhyiddin Yassin, Muhkriz Mahathir, Mohd Shafie Apdal and other lower echelon leaders.

Who is next?

HaveAGreatDay: Why read so much into these two Umnoputras’ resignation?

The bottom line is that PM Najib Razak can proudly proclaim that in so far as the public contests thus far, the rakyat don't give a hoot as to what the opposition leaders have been claiming with respect to the 1MDB scandal and the RM2.6 billion donation.

Oxymoronictendencies: It amazes me that Malaysiakini and other media organisations keep repeating the "party line" - "attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has cleared Najib of criminal misconduct".

I fail to see how this is possible. The AG does not have the ability or position to "clear" anyone of anything. He can only decide whether to prosecute or not. And claim insufficient or no evidence of a crime. if he decides not to prosecute.

In the case of Najib, the AG has declined to prosecute on the basis there is no evidence of a crime. This is his right as the AG, however it does not "clear" or mean no crime was committed.

Just that in the opinion of the AG (who we know takes his instructions from Najib), Najib has done no wrong. There are plenty who disagree with him - and those dissenters equally cannot find Najib guilty.

Only a court of law can decide if Najib is innocent or guilty. The AG declining to prosecute certainly does not mean Najib is innocent.

Mosquitobrain: These two patriotic Malays have shown the way. MCA, Gerakan and MIC: what are you guys holding on for?

Leave and not take away your good name before you've decided to call it a day.

Zaid asks Husni to join Save Malaysia movement

Sarawakian: I predict that 1MDB issue will not be resolved until and unless credible civil servants in high positions are prepared to reveal all, in spite of the risks to themselves.

This includes Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Husni, Gani Patail, Abu Kassim. Their testimony will dispel all doubts and put knowledge of wrongdoing into the public domain.

Following this, there should be a people’s power rally to demand an impartial royal commission of inquiry.

Malaysian intelligentsia must be prepared to get off their comfortable chairs and risk all to save the country. Don't depend on elections or foreign investigations.

The issues are too complex for the kampung folk to digest. Even the British voters are conned by the promises from pro-Brexit politicians and must now bear the consequences of leaving the European Union.

Senior civil servants with a conscience must do more than just resign because it will put all the institutions under the control of the alleged thieves.

The Analyser: Remind me again. With all your pep talk about 'Save Malaysia"... who actually are you saving Malaysia from and who are you saving Malaysia for.

It seems to me the voters just told you that they don’t see the need to save Malaysia from anyone.

As for the who you are saving Malaysia for, it seems to me the voters also just told you they don’t want Dr Mahathir Mohamad, they don’t want PAS, they don’t want PKR, they don’t want DAP and they don’t want Amanah.

As for adding another Umno reject who is well past his use-by date to your list of fors, it is a mighty step backwards by anyone's standards.

Rupert16: Najib can't afford to have people who have a bit of brain, and who know too much about his alleged corruption in 1MDB, to remain in his cabinet.
