The proposal to implement a ceasefire among opposition parties to focus on the 'real enemy', is not the official stand of PAS, but rather a personal idea mentioned by the party's deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, said PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.

He stressed that the party had never discussed the matter, and any official stand of the party would be announced by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang himself, or an appointed representative.

However, he said the deputy president's idea would be discussed in the political bureau meeting to be held at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, on Sunday.

"We will issue a statement regarding the matter after the meeting," he told Bernama in Kota Baru today.

Takiyuddin was commenting on a statement by Tuan Ibrahim on his Facebook page yesterday, which said opposition parties should implement a ceasefire among themselves, to focus on the 'real enemy', namely Umno-BN.

Tuan Ibrahim also urged the opposition parties to reach a compromise.

Takiyuddin said following the statement by Tuan Ibrahim, many PAS members requested confirmation whether it was the party's stand.

In KUALA TERENGGANU, Terengganu PAS commissioner Saiful Bahri Mamat said the party was still in the process of strengthening the third opposition bloc, which now involved the party and Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia.

"PAS has no relationship with DAP and Parti Amanah Negara. PAS remains committed to the policies and principles of its struggle; we hope the others understand and respect that," he said.

PAS retains a working relationship with PKR.
