Ahmad Said: Sack me and Terengganu will have a hung assembly

Former Terengganu menteri besar Ahmad Said said he will accept any decision the Umno supreme council makes against him, but cautioned his sacking could lead to a hung legislative assembly in the state.

This comes after urgings were made for his sacking, following his criticism of Umno and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"I have no issues and will adhere to any decision made, but the decision will have an impact on the legislative assembly.

"For now, I am holding on and focusing on my duties as an elected representative to defend the rakyat's welfare, despite attacks from various quarters," the Kijal assemblyperson was reported as saying by Sinar Harian.

The Terengganu assembly is made up of 17 BN representatives, 14 PAS representatives and one PKR assemblyperson.

Umno members reportedly had in a closed door meeting in Kuala Lumpur last week urged the party leaders to sack Ahmad Said, for criticising the BN government and tabling a motion of no confidence against Terengganu MB Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman in the last assembly sitting.

Ahmad Said also rejected Ahmad Razif's offer to appoint him deputy executive councillor in charge of housing and local government in a state exco reshuffle.

"I'm more interested in working as a volunteer than getting paid, because I have actually retired," he reportedly said after attending a Perkasa meeting in Kuala Terengganu.
