Foreign Minister Anifah Aman has denied attempts to bring "businessman" Riza Aziz, reported the BN Backbenchers Council's (BNBBC) website today.

The report citing a blogger Zaharin Mohd Yasin known as 'Sang Kelembai' quoted Anifah saying the US Department of Justice (DOJ) suit is not the business of the Foreign Ministry.

It was citing a "rumour" that Anifah was in New York to assist in the return of the son of Prime Minister Najib Razak's wife Rosmah Mansor.

"The US DOJ isn't an issue that the Home Ministry can get involved in. That's US business," the website hosted by BN parliamentarians quoted Anifah telling Zaharin as posted on the latter's blog.

"Therefore it is not true at all that the Foreign Ministry or myself am involved (if at all) in Riza Aziz returning to Malaysia.

"I only do Foreign Ministry work and not Riza Aziz matters.

"I go and return on commercial flight and don't have a private jet," Anifah is reported telling the blogger in a phone conversation, according to the BNBBC article.

The minister also said he did not meet Riza while in New York purportedly for a UN Security Council meeting.

'No immunity'

Anifah was further reported saying if Riza indeed has a diplomatic passport, it would not give him any immunity from US authorities.

Riza, along with business tycoon Low Taek Jho or Jho Low, are named in the DOJ's forfeiture suits to seize assets allegedly acquired using money which the department claims originated from 1MDB.
