Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron has proposed that redelineation be done in the state to help BN win back the seats it lost in the 2013 general elections.

He proposed the addition of three state seats, one in the BN Parliament seat of Tangga Batu, and another two in the Bukit Katil parliamentary constituency held by PKR.

"We expect that if there is a redelineation, in the Bukit Katil parliamentary seat, the number of Malay voters will increase from 53 percent to 67.5 percent.

"This will be a light at the end of the tunnel for BN," Idris said at the launch of the annual Tangga Batu Umno division meeting today.

He also wants parliamentary electoral boundaries in Tangga Batu and Kota Melaka to be tweaked, to oust opposition supporters.

"With a little adjustment at the borders of Tangga Batu and Kota Melaka (parliament seats), God willing we can control voters who don't support BN so that they're not in these constituencies.

"I hope the Election Commission will continue to coordinate the redelineation."

In the 2013 elections, BN won four out of six parliament seats, losing in Kota Melaka and Bukit Katil.

In Bukit Katil, BN only won in Ayer Molek, while DAP won in Ayer Keroh and Bachang, while PAS took Bukit Baru.

Similarly BN only won one state seat in Kota Melaka, Telok Mas, while the remaining seats of Kesidang, Kota Laksamana, Duyong and Bandar Hilir were won by DAP.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak who was present at the event, promised to give more allocations to help Malacca win back the seats it lost.

"Kota Melaka would be a bonus but we must win back Bukit Katil," Najib told the delegates.

However, he didn't specify how much the aid boost would be.
