'Zahid was held under ISA for fighting against cronyism, corruption and nepotism'
Anonymous_1426565266: Instead of trying to slap the critics, Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed, you slapped your own face instead. You cannot change history, but you can help the rakyat to fight, while you are still in power.
In view of the current situation of blatant cronyism, corruption and nepotism, ask yourself, as an Umno member, what have you done?
Did you use your position to ensure the culprit, as revealed by the US Department of Justice is rightfully punished, or are you sitting silently and blindly, ignoring the scandal by assuming nothing had happened?
Falcon: Nur Jazlan, in your obsession to attack an old man of politics, you have just confirmed the narrative of full-scale corruption and abuse of the country, its assets and public policies, by the dominant party.
Has anything changed of late? I trust you know the answer to that.
Gggg: Why are you talking about Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, but missing the elephant in the room, i.e. Anwar Ibrahim? Don't be selective if you want to come clean now.
Hank Marvin: But now Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is siding with a corrupt regime.
Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has apologised for some of his wrongdoings at least. Zahid instead has become a bad guy.
Is Nur Jazlan saying that Anwar was right after all? What about Prime Minister Najib Razak, who remains the same; he used to be with a corrupt regime, and now himself is leading even a worse one.
RCZ: Why keep bringing up negative history? If it’s to let us know, thank you. But if it is to educate or advise us to accept and carry on doing the same, no thank you.
Times have changed, people have gotten smarter. Can you deal with what's happening in the country today under Umno?
Mahathir is trying to do something. What about you, Nur Jazlan, and your other ‘goonies’? Accept a crooked leader and kleptocracy? Sorry, right-thinking Malaysians can't do that.
Anonymous #05023297: I don't really blame the leaders as it is the grassroots members that are supportive of such ‘racial’ cronyism, corruption and nepotism. Without them, the leaders would not have remained for so long.
It's all in the Umno family. So what's new. It's a joke that this great nation of ours is ruled by "cronyism, corruption and nepotism" as you succinctly put it. These are the three pillars of Umno/BN strength. It's not country, race and religion.
Victor Johan: Nur Jazlan, you have given proof that the government of Umno-led BN has used, and continues to use, unjust laws to arrest dissidents for a long time, and nothing has changed under Najib's premiership, and that of his deputy cum home minister, Zahid.
FairMind: So the point is, every incoming leader will use repressive laws to silence critics and whistleblowers against cronyism, corruption and nepotism.
Instead of criticising Mahathir, you have made a point for the removal of those repressive laws.
HaveAGreatDay: It's all water under the bridge, Nur Jazlan. If anything, it shows the misuse of the Internal Security Act (ISA) by the government in dealing with its political opponents.
Powerstar: Yes, all that has been said is true, but it didn't make it right for Mahathir then, or Najib now.
Court declares ban on Bersih yellow T-shirt 'unreasonable'
Cogito Ergo Sum: It is plain as black and white that yellow is all right. Banning a colour is as hilarious as the antics in Joseph Heller's novel 'Catch 22'.
What's next? Ban all verbs and nouns that condemn theft, corruption and cronyism? Or the letters M, O and the number 1?
Bazooka: Only oppressive regimes will see fit to ban a T-shirt of a certain colour from being worn by the people. What's become of this Bolehland or Najibustan?
Jstom: So, now will the government introduce a law that a ban cannot be challenged in court? That's the way our 'Malaysia Boleh' system works, doesn't it?
Hibiscus: The judges must judge according to the existing laws. These laws must be in accordance with the spirit of the Federal Constitution. To make judgments otherwise, will slide the country into a state of anarchy and lawlessness.
The right of peaceful assembly and the right of association is a human right in any country that professes itself a democratic country. It is good that the judges in this case have judged according to the spirit of the Federal Constitution.
Also the action of the attorney-general (AG) in instituting a charge against the Bersih organisers smacks of political bias.
TheAnonymous: Only in this country 'clean' T-shirts will get banned. Unreasonable? I think ridiculous more like it.
Wira: Don't rejoice yet. Putrajaya may appeal this decision to the Federal Court.
Lamborghini: So good that the judges are doing their duties and put back some sense into a government that has lost its direction and credibility, that has, and still is, resorting to stupid rules to intimidate the rakyat in order to stay in power.
The Reaper: Indeed, when the government is scared of the people, they do silly things.
