Former second finance minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah was never slammed in cabinet meetings, said Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

"No, no, we have never slammed Husni in the cabinet. We discuss what is good for the country.

"To be fair to the prime minister and deputy prime minister who chair the meetings, we can speak up on any issue, but we have never slammed him (Husni)," Tengku Adnan said in a press conference at a Hari Raya Aidiladha event in Putrajaya today.

He was responding to Husni, who reportedly said that he was criticised in a meeting when he proposed efforts to improve Malaysia's standing in Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index.

Husni did not specify in which meeting this incident happened.

In an interview published yesterday, Husni had said that he had been under heavy stress for several months as he was tasked with resolving the growing 1MDB controversy, even though he was never part of the debt-ridden state investment fund when it was first set up.

After he fell ill due to rising blood pressure, said Husni, a senior Bank Negara officer asked why he was being being hard on himself over 1MDB.

"Those words opened my heart... I had to separate work, and things that do not involve me and my condition.

"I felt relieved (after resigning). 1MDB no longer disturbs my mind and heart," he was quoted as saying.
